Vinyl siding is popular because it is easy to maintain and comes in a wide array of colors, widths and designs.  Vinyl can be painted with a high quality exterior paint.  Vinyl may be damaged by the sun and other elements.

Steel Siding is popular because is the most durable siding product on the market, offering a durable finish that protects against dents and scratches.  Steel siding does not buckle or warp and comes in non-fade colors. Steel siding is more expensive than vinyl and aluminum.

Aluminum Siding is not as popular today as it has been in the past due to the high price of aluminum. It remains available in a broad range of styles, textures and colors.   Aluminum siding requires little maintenance and performs well in wet climates.  Aluminum does dent easily and it can dent and fade over time.

Fiber Cement Siding, often called James Hardie Board, is very popular today because it has the look and feel of wood without the maintenance and high price. Fiber Cement Siding is fire-and water-resistant and has a life expectancy of 50 years. Fiber Cement is more expensive than vinyl and steel and It does require painting.

A tip for Siding Maintenance:
Siding should be cleaned on a regular basis with a soft brush, soap and water from a garden hose.  Using a power washer is not recommended as it can cause permanent damage to your home.
